We want you to find your best college fit. We believe you will find it among Wisconsin’s 24 private, nonprofit colleges. Across the various campuses, acclaimed faculty, and diverse academic foci, each of our colleges provides an exceptional education because of these shared principles.
We are committed to personalized education.
We believe a small student-to-faculty ratio is key in helping our students commit to the right path of study and receiving the highest quality education and training within those studies.
- Nashotah House Theological Seminary is the smallest of Wisconsin’s private colleges with an enrollment of 122 students and a 12:1 student/faculty ratio.
- The largest of our institutions, Marquette University in Milwaukee, has undergraduate enrollment at 8,300 students and still maintains a 14:1 student/faculty ratio.
- Lawrence University is both a highly reputable liberal arts college and a music conservatory, offering an extraordinary number of individualized courses—honors projects, tutorials, studio lessons. By the time students graduate, 90 percent will have at least one 1-to-1 class.
We offer rigorous and engaging academic communities.
Because we are first committed to personalizing each student’s educational path, we then expect, with the proper guidance and teaching in place, our students can handle a challenging course of classroom and experiential study.
- Carroll University, just outside of Milwaukee, offers 60 areas of studies, which all carry cross-cultural requirements with the expectation that students must thrive and lead in a global society.
- Carthage College, in Kenosha, is home to a faculty of internationally renowned professors, offering a rigorous curriculum and various undergraduate research opportunities. In addition, Carthage ranks in the top 10 nationwide for participation in short-term study abroad opportunities.
We demonstrate the value of community and citizenship.
Because our students are never a nameless face or an ID number, they immediately experience the value of community investment, cooperation, and leadership.
- Although the total enrollment of Beloit College is 1,250 students, its diversity is a model of peaceful global citizenship. Students from 46 states and 30 countries call this academic community home.
- In addition to the 30 undergraduate programs offered by Mount Mary University, this women’s college is also home to the renowned Women’s Leadership Institute.
We are committed to guiding students beyond the classroom to a successful career.
While the average net cost of attending one of Wisconsin’s private, nonprofit colleges is $5,259—far lower than many public options—we know the cost is still real, and finding a place in the workforce after graduation is competitive.
- Alverno College’s unique pedagogical approach requires students master, not only the skills within their major, but also perfect the professional traits highly sought by today’s employers. As a result, 94% of Alverno grads find jobs within six months of graduation.
- The curriculum at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) melds the importance of creative perspective and license with the reality of deadlines and high expectations, while its focused, sequential studio program prepares students for professional careers as artists and designers.
- In addition, MIAD’s cross-registration with Marquette University offers a student body of 600 access to Marquette’s active alumni network of 110,000 worldwide members, as well as the opportunity to simultaneously pursue an Advertising or Business minor.
That just scratches the surface.
